Well, this poster took a very, very, very long time to finish. almost too long. Reason for the delay is that the poster doesn't have very much to show, except the straightforward approach to the movie Open Water...to...shows...open water...I guess. Since there's not much going on, it became very boring very fast to me. So I experimented with different typographic ideas to spice things a little bit up. It took many iterations until I settled for this.
There's a similar official poster available that shows the main characters swimming in the sea in bad weather. I used this as a starting point but wanted to focus solely on the open sea itself, giving it some kind of eerie and dangerous feeling. I hope I could achieve achieve that.
